On June 30, 2015, Tactics published two separate posts. This was the second.
Sacrificing truth on the altar of power leads to devil worship. Whether the devil within or without, it doesn’t matter. Pastor, you began sacrificing truth a long time ago. Too bad. Now the day of reckoning is come. God doesn’t want your money, He wants justice. God doesn’t want your tall tales, He wants the truth. God never wanted what you could do for Him, He only wanted to love you. But that wasn’t good enough. You needed a god of power to worship. The Lord God is meek and lowly of heart, not quite what you had in mind. You have chosen a hard master to serve, this devil you love. Pity. There are still a couple minutes to midnight. Please, repent. And let the Almighty God break the chains of evil that you are suffocating under.
But God says, “What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness” (Romans 6:15-16). “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

At the time, I shared it with very little commentary. Looking back more than a decade later, I realize I have spent much of my writing saying the very same thing, though often in different words.
Tactic’ post was never about revenge. It was never about humiliation. It was never about “winning.”
It was, and still is, a plea.
A plea for repentance.
The words are strong because the consequences of sacrificing truth are strong. Whenever we trade truth for power, influence, reputation, or self-preservation, we begin serving something other than God. Scripture reminds us that we become servants of whatever we choose to obey (Romans 6:15-16). That is true for every one of us.
One sentence in particular has stayed with me over the years:
“God never wanted what you could do for Him, He only wanted to love you.”
How often do we convince ourselves that our accomplishments, ministries, reputations, or positions somehow matter more to God than humble obedience? They do not.
For years I have ended many of these posts with essentially the same appeal, and today is no different.
Bob Scott, if you ever read these words, my prayer remains unchanged. There is still time to repent. There is still forgiveness through Jesus Christ. There is still mercy for the one who confesses, forsakes sin, and turns back to the Lord.
This has never been about condemning you.
It has always been about calling you home.
