This is a highly revealing tactic, if you take a minute and think about it. It’s not a new one, because it seems that Bob has taken his cue from another despotic dictator.
Tactics shares the following:
Those who control the information are usually in control of the people. In Calvary Temple, we are encouraged to only read Pastor Scott’s books, (or listen to his teachings), or read the books in the bookstore that have been “pre-approved” by leadership. Pastor Ron did a teaching many years ago in which he stated that we should only be studying Pastor Scott’s teachings in our own personal devotions. He said that God is leading him and we should follow that leading, therefore, we should concentrate on those scriptures and teachings. In other words, God speaks to the pastor, not us. And yet the Bible clearly shows that it is Scripture that speaks to us: “but when He, the spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth.” John 16:13.
The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, a living memorial to the Holocaust, and dedicated entity which studies the “choices made by individuals and institutions during the Holocaust,” (https://www.ushmm.org/information/about-the-museum), offers the following regarding Nazi Propaganda and Censorship:
“Once they succeeded in ending democracy and turning Germany into a one-party dictatorship, the Nazis orchestrated a massive propaganda campaign to win the loyalty and cooperation of Germans. The Nazi Propaganda Ministry, directed by Dr. Joseph Goebbels, took control of all forms of communication in Germany: newspapers, magazines, books, public meetings, and rallies, art, music, movies, and radio. It’s a very scary thing when a leader, a supposed “pastor”, seeks to control what people free in Jesus can read. I am reminded even of something, so seemingly minor, as the sheets we were given to fill out for our once-a-month home group meetings. Like obedient “Germans”, we completed these forms that were intended to reinforce Bob’s teachings, the ‘nuggets’ that he spewed from his faux pulpit, ensuring that the points he specifically wanted to have sink deeply in our captive hearts, did just that and more. Negative Reinforcement. Lockstep conformity. Training to then go forth and help propagate his blasphemous agenda.
Perhaps I shouldn’t be comparing the cult of Calvary Temple to Hitler and Nazism, and really…I am not. But what I am saying is that controlling information, preventing free will and free thought processes, goes directly against our relationship with Jesus; goes against why He came, why He lived and died for us. Because of Jesus, we now have the Holy Spirit; we really no longer need a man to tell us what to think or do. As the Word says, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth.” John 16:13.
Be warned. Calvary Temple is a very dangerous place, a place that as shown above, works very hard to control you, your thoughts, your life, and the life of your family, friends, and loved ones. Bob Scott is not a shepherd, but a very menacing, false-hearted, perfidious man; a threat to the very life that you know. Please…stay far away from this cult located in Sterling, VA.
