A Rogue Church (AKA Calvary Temple) (5/27/15)

Just weeks before Christmas, I can at times find it difficult to report on the “Rogue Church” known as Calvary Temple located in Sterling, VA. Like you, I would much rather concentrate on more wonderful things, most importantly, the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Or the fact that this special time of year brings family and friends together in the Spirit of Christ’s love, mercy, and forgiveness. Thoughts of families gathering in churches, all together on Sunday morning, fill my heart with warmth.

And for millions of people all over the world, this scenario plays out. Can you imagine it in your mind? Makes you happy, doesn’t it?

But the reality of life in Calvary Temple does not play out this way. Families, including my own, are divided and destroyed. All hope of unity at Christmas time is thrown away by the careless, callous, and selfish actions of one man’s authoritarian edicts.

Who is this pompous and dictatorial person I refer to? None other than Star R. (Bob) Scott – head false shepherd of Calvary Temple. Hundreds, if not thousands of lives, were and continue to be seriously harmed by this one man.

Christmas after Christmas, so many people wonder how their grandchildren are doing? How big have they gotten? Years of Christmas gifts pile up, waiting to be given, along with hugs and kisses; arms bereft of holding babies and toddlers, and even teenagers. Parents are separated from children, and children, although grown, are left to wonder how their aging parents are getting along? Friendships severed. Whispers of pain that still manage to rise even while working very hard to keep them at bay as we all move forward.

This is the “fruit” of Calvary Temple – rotten and putrid.

Although Tactics of Calvary Temple wrote the blog post, A Rogue Church (AKA Calvary Temple) in the spring of 2015, its very un-Christmas-like point – sadly – can be made in December 2022.

Our church is overfilled with religious zealots. They are ready at a moments notice to ruin a spouses good name to “break” them down. To force a minor child out on the street. To lure gullible individuals into marriages without love. To lie to exterior family members regarding our real activities. To love bomb lonely/hurting families in order to grab their kids affections. To cover up adulteries and fornications and lusts. To threaten some into scared silence. And the list goes on. Just an average run-of-the-mill church. We look good on the outside, kind of like a grave, but on the inside we are just a bunch of dead men’s bones. Pretty sad.

But God says, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish” (Psalm 1).

I know that many people who love and care about me wonder why I am still writing this blog? Why do I still speak out? Why can’t I just let it go?

Fifteen years ago on December 10, 2007, I left Calvary Temple. Unfortunately, I did not leave until after my family was destroyed, irreparably separated from my husband; a distant, almost non-existent relationship with my youngest son; Our Christmases changed forever.

How can I NOT speak out while families are still being torn apart even as I write this? Separations. Silence. Shunning. Lies. Divorce. Young children are put out of their homes. Cold-hearted judgments pronounced on the whim of one man.

This must end. If I do not speak out, who will?

So, on this twelfth of December, 2022, pull your babies close. Tell your teenage sons and daughters how much you love them and are there for them, no matter what they might be going through. Have your children run into their grandparents’ arms, showering them with love. Call a loved one or friend – no matter the distance – let them know that you love them and are thinking of them.

And my biggest Christmas wish for you?

That you would stay FAR AWAY from Calvary Temple. That is not a place that I would recommend to anyone. Calvary Temple, while shiny and sparkly on the outside, is filled with an air of arrogance and disdain; never-ending pain and heartache; chaos, confusion, and strict adherence to the demands of Calvary Temple cult leader Bob Scott. Do what Bob Scott says, and you’ll be fine. Cross him, and see what happens. He likes to come off as a kind octogenarian, but don’t let that wolf in sheep’s cloak fool you.

Nope. Not a place even for your worst enemy.

Please – Keep your family and your children safe. There are so many good – no – excellent true churches in the Sterling area; within a 50-mile radius. I highly recommend Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, VA.

In closing, I would be remiss if I didn’t remind you that members of Calvary Temple are still part of an active Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) investigation into child sexual abuse. This investigation has yielded one arrest and conviction to date.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas. Please pray for those harmed by Bob Scott and Calvary Temple. Please pray for those still trapped in this authoritative cult. Maybe by 2023 someone else will have their eyes opened and they will leave that place. Wouldn’t that be wonderful!
