Well, we’re getting to the point in my commentaries where I know that I’ve written them in real time. In other words, I began to write a commentary about Tactics’ posts within minutes, hours, or days of the piece being published, and then I published. On Facebook. Where finding anything, including previous posts, in the archives on FB, stinks. Which is why I started this blog.
But, what does that mean?
Nothing. It means absolutely nothing. Except that when Tactics posted Why Bother? In January 2015, this was my commentary:
And so we continue…to stand, to pray, to watch, wait, trust, and speak out, sometimes shouting…
It seems as if I was just gearing up, don’t you think?
Fast forward to today as I begin to write a true commentary on this post from five (5) years ago, I am fascinated by the turn that Tactics has begun to take. In the last few posts, Tactics is beginning to, most definitely, not only call out Bob Scott, leader of Calvary Temple, but Tactics had drawn an obvious line in the sand.
Tactics is asking the question, “Why bother?”
Why bother speaking out? Why bother talking about your own family’s destruction? Why stand up for the victims of sexual abuse, most of them mere children, minors? Why speak to anyone who will listen to me/us about the real danger of attending Calvary Temple? Why talk about the manipulation and the twisting of Scriptures? Why tell of the narcissistic endeavors of a supposed ‘humble’ man of God? That he’s a liar. Tell about the separating of families. The putting children out on the street with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The cover-up of rapes, and everything that goes along with that. The silence. The hypocrisy. The brutality. The spending of millions of dollars on the leader Bob Scott’s fancy cars, jewelry, extravagant trips, etc. – all willingly taken by pressuring the hard-working Calvary Temple members for these “free-will offerings.” The covering up by high-level members for CT members who themselves are guilty of child sexual abuse. I could go on and on.
Why not just shut up and go away? Why not “let it go…” entirely?
Tactics, in this post, is telling you why we bother:
For years pastor and the leadership have been destroying individuals, families, and testimonies. Like his father, the Devil, pastor misleads (lies). Apparently getting away with it time and again. So why bother? Because:
1) God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked
2) The Church (Body of Christ) is to protect and defend the weak, fatherless, widow, foolish, naive.
3) The Church is to warn those committing sin. God holds us guilty if we are silent.
4) Because we are to stop evil.
I’ll add my own:
Because it’s the right thing to do.
The video in this piece is a John Wayne monologue from his movie, The Alamo.
I haven’t seen the movie in a very long time, so I can’t really set the scene for you. However, I do not think that it is important to do so. I have included the transcript for you:
I’m gonna tell you something, Flaca, and I want you to listen tight. May sound like I’m talkin’ about me. But I’m not. I’m talkin’ about you. As a matter of fact, I’m talkin’ about all people everywhere. When I come down here to Texas, I was lookin’ for somethin’. I didn’t know what. Seems like you added up my life and I spent it all either stompin’ other men or, in some cases, gettin’ stomped. Had me some money and had me some medals. But none of it seemed a lifetime worth of the pain of the mother that bore me. It was like I was empty. Well, I’m not empty anymore. That’s what’s important, to feel useful in this old world, to hit a lick against what’s wrong or to say a word for what’s right even though you get walloped for sayin’ that word. Now I may sound like a Bible beater yellin’ up a revival at a river crossing camp meeting, but that don’t change the truth none. There’s right and there’s wrong. You got to do one or the other. You do the one and you’re livin’. You do the other and you may be walkin’ around, but you’re dead as a beaver hat.
Film The Alamo
Author James Edward Grant
Role Davy Crockett
Actor John Wayne
There’s right and there’s wrong, and what has happened at Calvary Temple for the past 40 years and continues to happen – is wrong.
And, as for me? I’d rather be, “livin’,” than, “dead as a beaver hat.”
You got that right, Davy Crockett.
Look out, Bob Scott. Even our heroes of the west agree that speaking up – and sometimes shouting – is the right thing to do. I am going to continue do just that. As for you, BS, “you may be walkin’ around” (for now), “but you’re dead as a beaver hat.”
In the meantime, folks, remember that members of Calvary Temple are still under an active Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse. So far, this investigation has yielded one arrest. The perpetrator, Kevin O’Conner, is scheduled to stand trial this coming June 2020. Please keep yourself, your children, and your family safe. Stay far away from Calvary Temple.
