Come Home? (01/19/15)

Has it really been five (5) years since this Tactics’ blog post came out? Five years since Calvary Temple cult leader Star (Bob) Scott seemed to do an about-face reaching out to certain people who had not too long ago been considered persona non grata? Whole family units previously “marked” by the “man of God” – shunned, cast out, considered evil and not worthy of a relationship? Some forgotten for a decade or more?

Come Home?

Tactics published this astounding and quite accurate description of what was starting to happen among the rank and file of the Calvary Temple elite:

As our numbers dwindle (no new potential mates are recruited, fresh blood begins to stagnate and ferment) a new tactic must be employed. How to do it without actually fessing up and repenting of all the well-documented evil deeds we have committed in our church? Just become an older, kinder and gentler false teacher/prophet. Reach out to those we have known and say, “Come home. All is forgiven and forgotten. We will take care of you this time. Our cover is blown. We are having credibility issues. But those of you out there whose families we still have a hook into, we need you now. Come home.” Especially wanted: the strong, silent type. You may privately disagree with us, but publicly you are silent. Hey, we can work together. You blink at me and I will blink at you.

Who shouldn’t bother to apply for homecoming status? All who walk uprightly, speak the truth openly, and are not respecters of persons. Sorry, this is a limited-edition offer.

Five years ago, Bob Scott was starting to panic. Remember, if “numbers dwindle” that means less money for Bob. Something must be done!

Enter a new tactic: reach out to those who’ve left, been put out, shunned…wronged…and…

“Gulp!” Admit that Bob Scott was – wrong?

Ha! Bob Scott eat crow? Really?

Yet, that is exactly what seemed to start happening in early 2015. Certain families were chosen. Certain families were restored.

But there were conditions. Did you catch it?

Especially wanted: the strong, silent type. You may privately disagree with us, but publicly you are silent. Hey, we can work together. You blink at me and I will blink at you.

Yep. You were only “invited back” (makes me sick to even write it) IF you hadn’t spoken out publicly about Bob Scott and what goes on inside Calvary Temple. Uttered not one word about his pedophile ways. Said nothing about destroying and dividing families. Stone silence about his finances and his hobbies. Never talking to newspaper or television reporters. And certainly, never standing across the street holding a sign protesting Calvary Temple every Sunday for an entire year. Oh, and don’t start a blog to #exposecalvarytemple.

Nope. If you didn’t speak out, you may have stood, may still stand a chance of reuniting with your loved ones still trapped in the Calvary Temple cult. Just keep your mouth shut.

BUT, as Tactics so wisely stated, who of us will most likely never enjoy a newly mended relationship with sons, daughters, children, grandchildren, mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, friends and extended family?

Who shouldn’t bother to apply for homecoming status? All who walk uprightly, speak the truth openly, and are not respecters of persons. Sorry, this is a limited-edition offer.

As I do so often as I write these commentaries, I am sitting here shaking my head. My mind is racing, overwhelmed at all the adjectives I want to use to describe just how low and putrid this particular “new” tactic really is. How manipulative. How two-faced. And don’t get me started on the hypocrisy.

I am often reminded of the parable of the Prodigal Son Jesus spoke of in Luke 15. The heart of the father watching for his son, never waning in his love, no conditions ever applied, is a true picture of God’s love for us.

And then you have Bob Scott and Calvary Temple, exhibiting the exact opposite. Bob Scott would have you believe that he is showing you love like the Father’s example in the Bible. Only he falls far short. Bob Scott’s actions are a deliberate display of callousness, coldness, and conditional “love” wrapped up in sheer evil machinations.

Make no mistake. Nothing has changed at Calvary Temple. If anything, things have only gotten worse.

And yet, Bob Scott is still seemingly getting away with all of this. Members of Calvary Temple still treat human beings as if they were garbage.

What Would Jesus Do?

Or better yet, what would Jesus NOT do? He would do NONE OF WHAT BOB SCOTT DOES.

NONE.OF.IT.

WWJND

Please stay away from Calvary Temple located on Triple Seven Rd in Sterling, VA. On the outside, it may seem like a lovely, friendly place to be. But. The truth is, it is all for show. There is nothing good about Calvary Temple. Absolutely nothing. Stay far away.

And a personal message to those of you who took Bob’s offer knowing what’s been done to people and what still continues to happen – I believe that while you are overjoyed to have your family back, I know that you know that there are so many others who have yet to be reunited and restored – all on a whim of a charlatan. I do not believe that your slumber is peaceful. I know that you know that the right thing to do is to expose this evil.

I pray that you will do just that.
