Tactics asks many questions in this April post from 2015 – and you may think that many of them are strange. That is, until you read about Calvary Temple and its leader, Bob Scott. Once you aquaint yourself with the damage and destruction wrought by Bob and his followers, forever impacting so many lives and even entire families, you will begin to understand.
Tactics asks how to tell the difference between the ‘nice’ Calvary Temple (CT) members that you meet in the neighborhood, in the workplace, and even in the sanctuary when you first visit CT, and the people they become if you question Bob Scott and his ‘leadership’.
What? You might be wondering why these questions are even asked. After all, you yourself have probably visited many churches throughout the years, in many different locations – and, well – people who attend a church are usually…nice. Right?
But things aren’t as they seem at Calvary Temple located in Sterling, VA. There is danger lurking behind those nice smiles. Just one false step from you and they can turn – on you – in a heartbeat.
“Oh dear, how sad, nevermind.”
Take me, for example. I remember attending my first service at Calvary Temple in 1995. I went for a visit because – you guessed it – my coworker at the time attended Calvary Temple. Back then, things were different. There was no Internet – or at least the way it all works now – no blogs, no way to research Calvary Temple or read reviews and recommendations. You only had the word of a friend, loved-one, neighbor, or coworker.
Trust. I trusted this man.
As you may have read in my story, I enjoyed the visit to CT that evening. So much so that I, along with my children, started to attend regularly. Things went along well for years – or so I thought. Looking back there were warning signs and red flags, but I pushed them down or ignored them. After all, aren’t you supposed to trust pastors and people who say that they love Jesus? Nevermind all of the warnings in the Bible that Jesus spoke of Himself – wolves in sheep’s clothing, people who add to or take away from the Word of God, false prophets; people who lie, twist and manipulate, and more.
It wasn’t until I was supposed to treat my Prodigal Son as if he were dead that God had my full attention. Once that happened – those same nice people, those supposed men and women of God, became not-so-nice. Those masks came off – quick. Then, just like that – more than thirteen years of ‘relationships’ up in smoke. I was no longer, without question, obeying Bob Scott. I could be discarded. Watched. Gossiped about. Demeaned. Marked. Shunned.
But, it was too late for me and my family. My little family of four was destroyed.
“Oh dear, how sad, nevermind.”
Tactics asks more questions:
Pawns allow perpetrators to do their dastardly deeds. Do not accept our ‘fishy’ stories, full of bones. You just may get a fishbone stuck in your throat, and then what? Oh dear?!
Anyone nearby proficient in the use of the Heimlich Maneuver?
Tactics of Calvary Temple
There was no help for me. Bob Scott and Calvary Temple were done with me the minute I began asking questions. No care. No ‘Heimlich Maneuver’. Of course, Bob Scott and his ‘pawns’ will tell this story differently. But I ask you – take a look at the stories on my VIP DOCS and VIP LINKS pages. Story after story after story of lies, hurt, pain, and destruction, and then tell me what you think?
Take a look at Jesus and His life; His story.
See the difference?
I won’t make that same mistake twice. I choose Jesus over a ‘Bob Scott’ every single time.
Before you step foot in a single church – do your research. I didn’t have that luxury so many years ago, and it cost me everything. You do not have that same excuse.
And for the love of God, and His Son Jesus – DO NOT go near Calvary Temple. If you go there, you will be nothing more than a pawn, used and manipulated for Bob Scott’s purposes. Then you will become a perpetrator of evil.
Pawn or Perp? Perp or Pawn?
Don’t be either.
But God.

But God says, “I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted” (Revelation 2:2-3). “For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears” (Acts 20:29-31). “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves” (Matthew 7:15).
